Strategic Interest Groups (SIGs) are specialised teams within the Microsystems Network focused on key research areas. These groups bring together experts from academia, industry, and policymaking to drive innovation in microsystems.
Members must join at least one SIG and are encouraged to join as many as are aligned with their interests. SIGs cover both fundamental research (designing and building microsystems) and applied research (real-world applications).
The current list of SIGs, along with the network member currently leading them, is as follows:
Strategic Interest Group | Group Lead |
---|---|
Modelling Microsystems | Dr Chun Zhao (University of York) |
Microsystems Fabrication | Dr Vishal Shah (University of Warwick) |
Packaging and Integration | Professor Anne Vanhoestenberghe (King’s College London) |
MEMS | Dr Hamza Shakeel (Queen’s University Belfast) |
Microfluidics | Dr Melanie Jimenez (University of Strathclyde) |
Microsensors | Dr Gerard Cummins (University of Birmingham) |
Microacoustics | Professor Richard Fu (Northumbria University) |
Microrobotics | Dr Ali Kafash Hoshiar (University of Essex) |
Energy Harvesting | Dr Ibrahim Sari (University of Southampton) |
