The Microrobotics Workshop, held at the University of Essex on 7 January 2026 and hosted by Ali Kafash Hoshiar, brought together the UK Microsystems Network community for a day of talks, networking and lively discussion.
A real highlight was the interaction between clinicians, microsystems engineers and roboticists, with conversations spanning clinical need, translation pathways, and the practical challenges of bringing microrobotics from the lab to real healthcare settings.
The workshop featured talks from Bradley Nelson (ETH Zurich), James Chandler (STORM Lab, University of Leeds), Yang Liu (University of Exeter), Maziar Nezhad (University of Salford), Qi Zhou (University of Edinburgh), Veronica Iacovacci (The BioRobotics Institute, Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna), and
Professor Keyoumars Ashkan (Kings College London)
Please keep a look out for the 2nd Microrobotics Workshop, planned for the University of Leeds in September 2026. Details will follow soon.
