Applications Open for Early Career Researcher Forum

The UK Microsystems Network is delighted to announce the launch of its Early Career Researcher (ECR) Forum, a dedicated platform to support and amplify the voices of the next generation of microsystems researchers. Applications are now open for the role of Forum Leader.

The ECR Forum has been established to strengthen the researcher pipeline in microsystems, an area identified by EPSRC and the community as critical to the long-term sustainability and impact of the field. It will provide a collaborative space for early-career researchers to shape activities, build networks, and ensure their perspectives are represented in the Network’s management.

As Forum Leader, you will play a central role in steering activities such as:

  • Professional development workshops on grant writing, career progression, and publishing.
  • Industry visits to provide exposure to commercial priorities, tools, and workflows.
  • Peer-to-peer activities including mentoring schemes, town halls, and community-building events.
  • Research showcases to highlight ECR achievements and increase visibility with senior academics, industry, and policymakers.

Why apply?
This is a unique opportunity to raise your profile as a leader in the UK microsystems community, gain valuable experience in advocacy and event organisation, and make a tangible contribution to shaping the support available for early career researchers. The position will also help strengthen future fellowship, grant, and promotion applications through demonstrable leadership and community engagement.

If you are passionate about advocating for your peers and driving the future of UK microsystems research, we encourage you to apply.
